When I first created this website and wrote my thoughts on home below, the website served a different purpose.
In spite of the recent significant changes in my life, I am grateful to find gratitude easier to come by than even before this season in my life.
This website will serve as both a journaling device and a portal for you all to see in to my life.
Your prayers are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your patience as I redevelop the site.
A few years ago,
had you asked where I considered home,
I would have replied Heaven.
I still believe Heaven my true eternal home,
but as so often on this earth,
I am living a shadow of an eternal promise
and I am grateful.
Almost every month
at the seminar für biblische Theologie (sbt),
someone asked to me
because they knew me as a child
or because they were a former student/coworker of my father.
I have only recently come to realize the absence I had felt
after leaving Michigan
where so many people knew him
and could speak to his testimony.
These brushes with the past,
blessings certain,
reflect only a shadow of my experiences with my earthly father
while he still lived on this earth.
Likewise those past experiences with my earthly father
pale in comparison
with the experiences
he and I will enjoy
together
in our heavenly Home
for eternity
in one day
sooner.
…
When I stand on my terrace and look out,
I see the Alps
breathtaking and beautiful.
–
The German word that comes to mind is
“traumhaft”
or
dreamlike.
–
Often it feels like I am living in a dream
and to feel at home
in a place like this
fills me with happiness
for the first time
in as long as I can remember.
As continually mindful I am
of the blessing it is,
I know Switzerland
is
not
my
eternal
Home.
Nevertheless,
I am simply full of gratititude
to be living in this moment.
